This is an animated 2D flight simulator created in Excel 2003 based on real physics that you can download for free at
http://www.excelunusual.com. The polars of the main wing and stabilizer airfoils (profiles) were modeled in Xflr5, then imported in excel where 5th order polynomial interpolations were extracted from all the curves. A formula for linear interpolation between known Reynolds numbers was then used. The forces and momenta were extracted, then Newton's second laws in linear and angular domain were applied to find linear and angular accelerations. Linear and angular speeds and coordinates were obtained by a basic Euler two step integration process. The main wing is based on an airfoil used by prof. Mark Drela of MIT in his Bubble Dancer DHLG.
