This heat pump installation is being done at the Strous residents in Clackamas, a suburb area of Portland, and this video shows a quick overview of the process. Climate Control and its employees spends a great deal of time with their customers, from the sales process, to the install, right down to the education of the system operation at the end.
The heat pump may look just like an air conditioning unit, and in some ways is the same, but the difference is really on the inside and how the unit works. Heat pumps can work in a "reverse" mode using the compressor as a way to produce heat and send it back into the system, effectively becoming a heater and not just an air conditioner. The use of a heat pump is excellent for the mid west climate since a large portion of the year a traditional air conditioning unit may sit doing nothing and the investment is left idol, but a heat pump will get used year round, thus using the invested equipment and more efficiently heating and cooling your home. The heat pump may be more out of pocket initially but will save thousands over time.
Climate Control sells the Carrier brand, the inventors of air conditioning & pioneers in many of the HVAC technologies. Make sure to contact them if you have any questions at all.
