a week on the road and a look towards the future with mpgomaticcom three days spent at irwindale speedway covering the first event in the inaugural global rallycross season followed by a chance meeting at the bat cave with you won039t believe who we ran into spoiler alert script below i want to take a few moments to thank the mpg-o-youtube peeps for giving us the opportunity to do what what we039re doing the way that we039re doing it i wake up every day knowing how lucky i amthere039s purpose behind what we do we039re not your typical automotive channel gas prices are going through the roof and we039re here to help in what might seem to be unconventional ways our goal for this year is to crank things up help more folks and have more fun we039re applying to the youtube nextup program to take mpgomatic to the next leveli was at irwindale speedway last week for the opening round of the first global rallycross season shooting footage for a documentary film about the launch of rallycross here in americaafter three days at the track i had a day off some la-native friends took me on a whirlwind tour of los angelesmy buddy russ insisted that we see the petersen automotive musuemas we wandered over to the batmobile from batman and batman returns -- featured in the hollywood cars of the stars exhibit -- my pal steve said quothey i know where the original bat cave is want to go check it outquotsteve didn039t have to ask twicewe soon found ourselves walking up a canyon road where lo and behold was the bat cave there was a production crew working there - this being la and all - and we were not able to go into the caveas we were chatting with a member of the crew someone walked out of the bat cave someone the american government has been chasing for yearsit was osama bin laden well it wasn039t exactly osama bin laden it was actor steven weber in the role of osama bin ladenit039s 2011 and everyone has a reality show even osamathe mpg-o reality is a lot like the movie groundhog day with cars but it039s not about me it039s about usour goal is for america to eliminate its dependence on imported oil to put folks back to work and to prove that we can have plenty of fun while we039re doing it and from the original script as i039m going round and round - testing for fuel economy - two big questions are always on my mindwhat if you could take a car right off the lot and use aftermarket parts to raise its fuel efficiency and performancewhat if you could run that car on 100 domestic fuel something other than conventional petroleum productswell it039s time to put up or shut up i039m applying to the youtube nextup program to get mpgomatic to the next levelif i039m selected as a nextup participant i039ll produce a new series of videos under the banner quotburn rubber not gasolinequoti039m going to take a car off the lot and do exactly what i039ve proposed: raise the level of its fuel efficiency and performance we039ll reduce the amount of petroleum that the car uses and then attempt to eliminate conventional petroleum altogether by switching to an alternative fuel we039ll put it on the dyno take it to the track and catch it all on tapeonce the cars been buckled down i039ll take it on the road to visit america039s unsung heros: the companies that are working tirelessly to develop and produce 100 domestic renewable fuelssimply put domestic fuels create jobs when america becomes energy independent we fix the economyin november i039ll bring the car to the world039s wildest car show sema 2011 in las vegas nevada where i039ll deliver exclusive streaming video from the show floorwhile i039m not exactly sure which car will be put to the task i039ve been leaning towards something that might seem unlikely: an american musclecar but it might be something else altogetherback in the day i was able to drive my tri-power gto through the gas shortage by disconnecting two of the three carburetors it was a compromise to say the leastthis time out we039re gunna do a whole lot better

the think city electric car test drive was very fun this is a small and affordable car that will be available for sale in the us in the next few months and we really look forward to itthe fully charged car goes as far as 100 miles and it039s a perfect weekday car to go to work and drive around the city the car was brought from michigan to california for a special event and we were lucky enough to drive it the think city electric vehicle looks small from the outside but is fairly large and tall on the inside i felt really safe driving it it039s a little noisy inside but nothing bad the maximum speed is around 70 miles per hour 112 km and they didn039t want to tell me how much it would cost but i have my guesses 10000 to 15000 since well it039s made out of plastic another benefit of the body is that it wouldn039t get scratched the car comes with a radio and has an option for a gps two things i definitely need other interesting facts are that the battery lasts 100000 miles or a minimum of ten years something other cars won039t live to see lastly the first maintenance check is at 40000 milesthink ev is a scandinavian company that calls themselves quotone of the most carbon efficient car companies in the worldquot i just took a look at their new think city design and i like it much better than this one we test drove i hope we039ll be able to see them take over the roads of major us cities and our very own garages what could be better than never going to a gas station never having to change the oil and never having to change the filter again i also discovered that this car has only five moving parts versus a conventional car that usually has hundreds of moving parts making it much harder to break and easier to find out a problem when it arises with gas prices skyrocketing will it ever end it makes me even more excited to drive cars such as think city of course it can039t be as fun as the tesla but it039s an amazing automobile check out our tesla test drive here: http:wwwecoboldcomblogs19-tesla-roadster-test-drive
