Arizona protects female employees by enforcing the federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) of 1978. This federal statute prohibits employers from discriminating against any of their female employees based on pregnancy and/or childbirth.
The Arizona Civil Rights Act also prohibits discrimination based on sex, which includes maternity and pregnancy discrimination as a general rule.
