Pranab Kumar Ghosh, a Retd. Dy. Commissioner of Police lives in Kolkata. He cites a famous dialogue from the hindi film Sholay "Jo darr gaya so mar gaya" in other words "fear kills". He says one should not be afraid to speak their mind as we all live in democracy.
Pranab says that film actors or magicians cannot run the parliament. Parliament is run by the people with brains. People who are educated and well read, people who have the sense to make laws and make sacrifices for others. As for ones who cheat or indulge in arm-twisting are useless for the country.
He talks about the time when the Congress party was in a downward spiral. At that time only after several requests from the congressmen did Smt. Sonia Gandhi joined the party. And that's how the congress party survived. Talking about Sonia Gandhi he says "Every home should have a daughter-in-law like her", who not only adopted her new home so well but also became completely Indian in her values. The time when she was asked to become the prime minister she politely declined the offer.
Pranab makes an interesting observation, he says to give up power when it is being offered to you is not something everyone can do. Mahatma Gandhi had taught us that but it is only Sonia Gandhi who had the courage to actually walk in his footsteps.
