Fish finders and fishing GPS: how do they work?
The echo sounder is an electronic ultrasound
sounder, consisting of a transducer to be fixed to
the hull and a receiver equipped with a screen.
The sound impulses sent downwards by the
transducer bounce off the seabed and, based on its
actual conformation, are returned to the receiver
which processes them through a more or less
detailed map. In fact, compared to the basic
model, each product is equipped with various
additional features: from models with color
displays to those equipped with distance and depth
indicators, with frequencies ranging between 80
and 200 kHz and more or less large and
sophisticated. It is possible to choose
fishfinders with GPS which, through the connection
with the satellite, allow you to reach the shoal
points or any other destination with a very
limited degree of approximation. GPS, depth
sounders and depth gauges provide very important
information to navigators and fishermen, for this
reason they are considered indispensable on-board
equipment for navigating safely. |
