Watching these people hear for the first time inspires an immense feeling of GRATITUDE. Gratitude for the small, simple things I take for granted in everyday life. It also tells me about how resilient human beings are. Some of these waited decades to be able to finally hear, and how to overcome obstacles I can’t even imagine. I also realize that there are many that still and won’t have the sensory experience most of us possess. It inspires me a sense of inclusion. Finally I noticed that people’s first reaction is to smile if they are kids and to cry if they are adults. Something about how the brain responds to being overcome with an unusual sensory signal… maybe something to research. At any rate, lots of opportunities for us to make a change! This gets me every time. We take so much for granted. Hearing - one of the Seven Wonders of the world.
