The Kumla institution is one of Sweden's largest and most secure prisons, The facility can accommodate approximately 500 long-term internees.
Within the walls, is a section engaged in a retreat program which is popularly know as "The monastery". This program had its experimental beginning in 2001 and was later adopted as part of the prison rehabilitation program.
Prisoners from all over the country may apply to come here to find themselves as well as inner peace and harmony, This is achieved as internees engage in a one or four week program in which they live in total silence, breaking contact with the outside world.
An exception was made for this film production.
